One of the ways of 'spreading the word' is the use of posters. Throughout the project, a series of posters will be produced and put up in areas where the team are working. The concept of 'biodiversity' and its benefits for farmers is poorly understood in the areas in which we are working. Holding 'farmer fora' has enabled the project staff to interact with farmers in a participatory way. These two way discussions have been extremely useful in enabling the project to adapt to the needs of farmers. For example, the presence of trees on the landscape has been found to be extremely beneficial to both birds and pollinators and farmers and project staff have identified several species (such as Avocado, Grevillea and Markhamia) that would provide benefits to both biodiversity and farmers.
